Interestingly I have seen Ryanair staff wearing ID badges dangling from Boeing neck ribbons of late.

John Deere makes its European tractors at Mannheim, the old Lanz factory, the sort of production facility that can't be moved abroad very easily, Caterpillar owns Perkins engines of Peterborough, which might not be subject to a trade war so I imagine both will stay put, it depends on how these tariffs are applied. Can tariffs be applied to goods produced by an American company within the EU?

In fact all the major tractor manufacturers are owned by an American company. New Holland is a part of CNH , owned by Exor which is listed on the NY stock exchange, but its still the Agnelli family (think Fiat) that controls it. AGCO owns Massey Ferguson (now built in France), Fendt (Germany), and Valtra (Finland). European brands which might benefit are Landini/McCormick (Italy) and Same Deutz Fahr, (SDF, Italy) but there is no way they could replace the US owned names and farmers won't buy Chinese.

It will all be one huge mess.
The real problem for the indigenous European tractor manufacturers is price and scale.
SAME are great machines so are Fendt and Landini but they are pricy.

Yep, machinery costs shot up during the early days of the Ukraine war because of the steel shortage brought about by the battle of Mariupol. They didn't come down again because of higher energy and labour costs, especially in Germany and manufactures won't cut prices on the same model, no quicker way of upsetting the customers who bought at the higher price.

What we are seeing now is companies making simpler machines, it was getting over complex in many instances with all sorts of digital bells and whistles attached, these have been stripped out and cheaper machines now roll off the production line, or creep off the production line as the industry is in the doldrums at present.

Fendt will always remain a premium machine, it is AGCO's pride and joy. SAME and Landini, are cheaper and will have wriggle room to reduce prices via the above method, and they have started, but only at the smaller end.

Do not expect any pension. The euro has risen of late on the thought the war is over. Well it is, but not in the way that many expect. It is not just Zellensky that has no cards, it actually is trump and the euro fools, they have no cards eithet

We will see how much the sell off will impact Japan and later Europe. They are busy talking about 800 billion euro that does not exist, being sent to Ukraine

From September, but six months ago the Germany economy was flat lining and I strongly suspect it has not recovered much since -

Mechanical engineering production in Germany fell significantly short of expectations in the first seven months of the current year, with a real decline of 6.8 percent. "The economy performed rather disappointingly during this period. While we hadn't yet anticipated a moderate recovery, we did expect a sustained stabilization at a low level. This didn't materialize; what's more, incoming orders and numerous business climate indicators suffered significant setbacks.

Gosh Germans.
Voting green.
Voting gobshytes.
Shutting your npps
Adopting totally stupid emission regulations.
Allowing your cheap gas to be cut off.
Making an enemy of a country that wanted to buy your products.
Might be a pretty fucking stupid Strategy.

the Germans have a self destruct button as the Jews have their heads spinning in atonement for imaginary crimes (hundreds of billions so far) .
the Israelis heads don't spin when they blow Palestinians Syrians Egyptians Jordinarians Lebonanese apart .
the present foreign minister baberbock is a total headcase and the remainder are babbling warmongers with the only country which CAN SAVE THEM Russia with what their country needs desperately to become a powerhouse == cheap energy and raw materials on their doorstep .
i used to think the Germans were pragmatic hard headed realists --all those people are gone .
today they foam at the mouth that the AFD are German and they risk civil war in Europe with the promoting of a coup in Romania and their ostracizing of the AFD inn Germany.
these people have a Marxist agenda which neither the European or American people share .

Industrial loss shocker in German firm:
Not really when you consider this article.
It's so stupifyingly beyond belief.

But....that is the outgoing parliament, is it not? Weren't they voted out? Does this decision stand up to legal scrutiny?
And Merz is the slimiest of Blackrock bootlickers imaginable.Odious reptile.
Goodnight Germany. Too brainwashed to save themselves.

I have a certain grá for the place due to its ancient history. Spent time holidaying and even worked for a while. Back in the 80s and 70s on holliers in tents etc. It was a safe place with lovely culture from a young child's then young adult's perspective. They do not deserve what is happening to them. They do not deserve Merz.
Same as we do not deserve what the bustards are doing to us.

I had a look through the very extensive AFD Manifesto the other day and much of it was the sort of policies dear to the old fashioned, cloth cap wearing labourites of the 20th century. On what measure it can be termed far right I have no idea. Since when has 'a fair day's work for a fair day's pay' been considered a basic tenet of extreme conservatism? But there it is, deep within the heart of the AFD wish list.

A good friend of mine is of that country and he can't wait to move a few miles across the border to Austria upon his retirement.

Correct, seeing 49% are from Britain, then price is a very large determining factor. Screw Ireland, I have been there, I am going to Portugal, Greece or further afield. The yanks are only 10%, cost does not matter to them at all, they are on a pilgrimage and can afford it. So the yanks are a very small percentage but likely a big spender, mcgregor has set them doing some research
